Banksman operatives are trained to direct vehicle movement safely and in a controlled manner, whether at a depot, onsite or even whilst out on the job. They are the eyes and ears for the driver, making sure any manoeuvres that take place are safe and do not put the driver or anyone else in danger.

But many employers do not train their staff, in this subject for whatever reason, until it’s too late.

Stats state that 1 in 4 deaths which involve a vehicle, are caused by a vehicle reversing.

A Banksman needs to have a clear view of what is around them which they can then communicate to the driver, either through a radio link or via pre-arranged hand signals. These Banksman signals are standard throughout the UK and Europe.

The Banksman job is an important one, requiring him/her to be fully trained in their role so as to prevent accidents and damage. The better the training the better the Banksman.

The course is delivered by our RTITB instructor, either at our training centre or on site.

Delegates will have real life scenarios to adhere to whilst directing vehicles safely. They will learn how to control risks and carry out the role with complete confidence. This course could save a life.

This course is a 2-part theory and practical test (80% pass mark).
